After an exciting day of riding, we made it to Smoky Hollow Campground outside of Lodi, WI.
The excitement came in the form of rain, on and off all day, riding down State Street and around the State Capitol in Madison, braking a shift cable on our tandem, and finally hitting hills worthy of the Horribly Hilly or Dairyland Dare.
But, we’re here now, and the nephews are scheming a good route for tomorrow.
So, another absolute favorite critter picture of mine, partly because I had to work so hard to get it, is of this male variable sunbird in Malawi.
If you like to see the details, this is a good image to click on so you zoom in on the original.
We on to Wonewoc tomorrow, so wish us dry skies and no more mechanical issues.

Hello Andrew! I know that you’re still on your bike trip but promised a friend who works at the Humane Society that I would contact you. I am going to forward her email to you which includes the information at the bottom of the contact at the wildlife department of WHS. They are looking for geese families to take on goslings that have been orphaned. You’re the best resource I know for sighting the possible solutions to this problem for when you come home and return to the river in Estabrook again. Thank you so much. You’ll find my forwarded email in the next mailing from me. Pat Bachhuber

Hi Andrew, I know that you are still on your bike trip but I wanted to ask you if you could help out the Wisconsin Humane Society on something. They need to find a goose family with small goslings to take on orphaned babies that they are caring for at the Wildlife Center at WHS right now. I thought of you, immediately! The contact person there is Jackie Kammers and her phone at WHS is 414-431-6216. When you’re back at the river and if you see any families that fit the bill would you give her a call please? Thank you so much and stay safe. I hope that you’re having a really lovely time. Pat Bachhuber
